EVERY FAMILY HAS A STORY
It all began back in 1994 at Miami’s first cheer gym, Cheer Factory. Ernie, a high school junior, was a first-year staff member and Shannon, a first-time cheerleader, was a student in both of his tumbling classes. Ernie remembers Shannon as a sweet, shy and quiet kid, but what stood out to him, even in those early days, was her strong work ethic and dedication. It was not long before Ernie met Shannon’s not-so-shy, animated, high energy, Momma Buckner, better known to everyone as Mom. Her larger than life personality resonated with Ernie and they quickly became close. “Mom” immediately made him feel like part of the family. Ernie nannied little Megan (Shannon’s little sister) from time to time and spent countless hours with the girls after school.
During Ernie’s senior year of high school, he became Shannon’s head coach for the Miami Junior All-Stars. After that season, Cheer Factory closed its doors leaving the entire Junior Team and their coach basically cheer homeless. This led to Ernie’s formation of the Junior Program for Top Gun All-Stars at a local gymnastics facility. In its' fist year in existence, Top Gun Juniors went on to achieving a state championship title, placing in the top ten of fifty plus teams at NCA Nationals and becoming National Champions at COA Nationals and US Spirit Nationals. After three successful seasons, Ernie decided to branch out on his own and started his own program, Legend All-Stars, better known as the “Legend Lady Jags”.
Shannon was coached by Ernie a total of ten years and earned a State & National Championship Title in each of those ten seasons. In addition, Ernie coached Shannon and her team to the first ever victory for a Florida team at NCA Nationals in Dallas, Texas, a gold medal at the US Junior Olympics and even a world title and gold medal at the US All-Star Federation World Championship.
Needless to say, their history and success together are special and unique. They have always felt like siblings and the love they have for each other is one you only find in a close-knit family. Excited is truly an understatement when you describe how they feel about being reunited. Their passion for the sport is undeniable, and their family values, work ethic and dedication are obvious by their actions.
The fusion of both Shannon and Ernie is redefining of "United" in UNITED ROCK NATION
...and underlining the motto “The FAMILY that ROCKS”.
